Field Trip to Laurel Hills Park!

Our final field trip is on Tuesday. We will be going to Laurel Hills Park, where we will engage in hands-on learning about insects and other wildlife. Please remember to make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, as we will be outside the whole time. It is also a good idea to apply sunscreen in the morning, as teachers are not allowed to apply it at school. Students do not need to bring water bottles or snack, as this will be provided (thanks to fabulous volunteers!).

During our literacy study this week, we will continue studying nonfiction texts, and we will be using them to do research. In Math, we will be learning about probability and symmetry. During our science unit this week, we will continue observing our caterpillars, many of which are now in chrysalis form, and we will be researching and comparing the life cycles of  Reptiles and Fish. We will also be doing some activities that we can share with rising second-graders to prepare them for second grade.

The third-fifth graders will be taking the EOG tests this week. While we won’t be taking the tests, our schedule will be affected. We will be eating lunch in our room due to testing Wednesday-Friday. We will also eat lunch in our room on Tuesday, due to our field trip. Our specials will be canceled on Wednesday and Friday. Please talk with your child to prepare him or her for the changes to our schedule. It’s important that we all approach change with cheerful flexibility!
