Meterologist Presentation!

We’re very excited to welcome a meteorologist with the National Weather Service this Friday afternoon. We will be learning more about how forecasts are made, and we will have an opportunity to ask questions about weather and the role of a meteorologist.

During our literacy study this week, we will begin thinking about different ways to show and share what we have learned about fairy tales. Please check the Monday folder for an invitation to view student presentations about fairy tales in a few weeks. Students will be working in groups to create presentations, and we’re excited to show you what we have learned! In Science, we will be wrapping up our weather unit, and we’ll be getting ready to learn about sound.  In Math, we are going to continue to work with subtraction of large numbers. Please make extra time to help with homework this week if you can.

Next week we will be celebrating Read and Feed across America in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We will be collecting canned foods for donation. Students will also be celebrating by showing their school spirit with different outfits. Stay tuned for more info.

You can follow us on twitter! Our name on twitter is ThompsonFWES. I hope you enjoy getting our tweets!

Homework February 22-24

Reading: Please read for at least 20 minutes each night. Remember that really reading is the number one thing each of us can do to grow our minds and become excellent readers! If you want an extra reading challenge, use your reading time at home to prepare a book talk about a book you have really enjoyed. Let Ms. Thompson know if you have a book talk that you want to present to the class. *Remember to record your reading in the Reading Log section of your agenda.

This week, students will also write a letter to a fairy tale character. Please check the homework folder for more information.

Math:    Wednesday: Subtraction Practice,  Thursday: Yard Sale

No Spelling This Week!

Due to the short week, we will not have a spelling test this week.
